SPEED, STAMINA, AGILITY, FOCUS… AND QUICKBOOKS!

Speed, stamina, agility, focus. All words that describe well Michael Phelps, Simon Biles, Shaquille O’Neal… and I. What do I have in common with them? We are all featured speakers at the upcoming QuickBooks Connect conference in San Jose, California.

I thank my colleagues at the Intuit Accounting Professionals Trainer/Writer Network for the continued confidence in the superior learning experience I bring to participants. I have been a facilitator essentially at every QuickBooks conference over the past ten years, national and international. This one is no exception, I was invited to lead a new session: “Inventory Beyond the Desktop”. This seminar takes our unparalleled expertise in all that is inventory – from retail to wholesale / distribution to manufacturing – and brings it to the cloud.

I created this new session because companies that need inventory tracking want to take advantage of cloud applications. This course defines the cloud software options for clients that need inventory. We review what is available in QuickBooks and break down what can be done within QuickBooks Online and when add-ons are needed.

Several years ago, I was front and center at the announcement where Intuit first released the QuickBooks Enterprise Advanced Inventory module. I knew this put QuickBooks essentially on the same playing field with other mid-market solutions. Ever since, I have consulted with Intuit product managers on the enhancement of inventory functions. A year ago, I was commissioned to author several sections of the ProAdvisor Certification course and exam, including Advanced Inventory. Being so devoted to the development of QuickBooks inventory, I am excited to parlay this knowledge and expertise into the concept of inventory in the cloud. This new course identifies common and advanced inventory concepts, participants learn how to choose the proper cloud solution based on functional and operational needs, and gain insight into what to watch for when converting QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.

I am also excited to announce that we will be adding the new course “Inventory Beyond the Desktop” to our Advanced Continuing Education lineup at www.mendelsonacademy.com. We will post course dates right after QuickBooks Connect, so check back soon!

Now on to the speed, stamina, agility, and focus. It is a great privilege to share the spotlight with such renowned individuals, in addition to Tony Hawk, Jillian Michaels, and Malcom Gladwell – whom we mentioned in a prior blog article, “Seven Days Towards Five Years: Why Hire an Expert”, http://bit.ly/2eWa2lw.

In software consulting, you need speed in order to keep up with technology; this continuously evolving world requires to act quickly in learning new concepts and updating existing ones. It requires agility in thinking of creative and inventive solutions quickly when responding to client needs. It requires the stamina to make it through large-scale consulting projects, many times with little sleep and clear mental awareness. The focus is not just on the outcome but on the merits of the task itself – I focus on the essence of what I do, how the teaching occurs, the learning experience itself. Learning is the result of an exceptional experience.

Interesting how the characteristics of world-class athletes apply just as much to world-class consultants! I am honored to be mentioned in the same breath as any of these great individuals of our time.

See you in San Jose with my buddies Michael, Simone, and Shaq!
